COMMUNITY FRIDGE
VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
Check the digital fridge-temperature log daily. Temperature data that is collected and stored 3-4 times a day is manually checked once a day. Recorded logs are kept for a minimum of 2-3 weeks. If the temperature rises above 41°F or the fridge needs maintenance, please contact us at info@betterblocksgf.org.
Check the fridge physically once a day to monitor date labeling and discarding expired food. For packaged food, check the use-by dates and discard based on expiration date. For prepared non-packaged, discard food after seven days based on date labeling. Use additional discretion to throw away any food that is detected as gone bad or has compromised packaging.
Handle the fridge with clean hands. For contamination prevention, avoid unnecessary contact with food items. Wearing a mask is recommended. In the case of noticing or causing a spill, please thoroughly clean the fridge.
Keep the fridge clean and not too full at any time for proper ventilation.
The fridge is fully enclosed to prevent pest entry, but in the circumstance of any pest found in/around the fridge, please contact us.
